Feeling BLUE......
Painting my formal living room, and it's pretty blue! Not pretty like my little girl- pretty like over the top! It's actually chalkboard paint, so I have big plans for this room. We shall see if it wrks out...... Wish me luck..... And tune in next time to see if the blues brought a smile to my face?

LOTS of Helpers, needless to say the floor was also painted blue!

Decorating with loved stuff.....
This is a handkerchief that my great grandma embroidered her initial on, and used tatting to do the edge. I have it hung over my kitchen window. It reminds of her everyday, she was the ULtimate homemaker! I'll never forget her letting me punch down the bread dough, and all the rocks she had displayed in her living room. Love you grams- thanks for sparking the light of homemaking in me! Use your keepsakes in your house- let them shine and remind you of the people you love!

Picture Perfect Porch Ideas...
Everyone needs a little get away of their own, but sprucing up a porch can be pricey! Here are a few budget friendly ideas to spice up your outdoor space!
Our cute Dad build this AMAZING bench out of an old bed frame found at a second hand store! LOVE IT!!! When you are looking for old furniture for a project always look at the shape, it's easy to overlook a great piece when it isnt the color that you want. Just remember that you can paint just about anything!
Looking for the perfect pillow is tough and expensive! Covering an existing pillow is much cheaper and the best part is that you can change it whenever you want!
Bring the inside out! Paintings dont have to stay indoors, just make sure that you hang them on a wall that doesn't get hit by the sprinklers!
Crates are VERY in right now! With this little cutie we covered a piece of scrap wood with fabric and screwed it right to the top! To add a little height we attached some wheels to the bottom!
Wire baskets found in the kitchen section of a second hand store work GREAT for planters and hanging baskets!
Old metal buckets make GREAT planting pots! Just drill a few holes in the bottom for draining!
Wind chimes can be made out of almost anything! We used old egg beaters for this one, and they actually make a very pretty sound! Of course we had to bling it up a bit ;)

More on decorating porches.....
Funny story! So all of us girls love to go thrifting together and sometimes end up with other people things in our cars. I found these cute plastic diamonds in a sack and was so excited to do something fun with them, I couldnt quite remember where I had gotten them- but with all the junk I buy, I just thought "yay a treasure I've forgotten about!" I spray painted them cream and was positioning them in my wreath, the WHOLE time asking my lil sis's opinion! She just helped and gushed about how cute they were......... The next day my mom told me they were hers! She was just to embarrassed and to NICE to tell me!! Anyhow..... I love the lock and key motif, especially on my front door. Thanks Tay for letting me steal your cute decor...... ;)
Almost over.....
So the thing I dread; the thing that I can't wait for to end; the thing that leaves me exhausted at the thought of all the homework and deadlines and running....... School! Now I find myself sad looking at my bulletin board. Seeing all the beautiful art work my kids have made. The art made out of time well spent, a little piece of them left behind for me to treasure.... Wow, another year almost done. I find myself wishing ( just a little ) that I could go back and do a little more for each of them. Did I do all I could? But the feeling of a warm summer and the time I get to spend with each of them brings me hope and rejuvenates my thoughts to move forward- Sunshine here we come! Make no regrets for the few months of warmth that comes, for another year is just around the corner.

My new boyfriends makeover.......
I finally got my buffet painted and put some decos on top! I painted it cream using a high gloss for a little extra shine. I added water to thin out my paint just a tich, I'm loving the results!

These frames are old cardboard frames they use to get with pictures. I found them at a second hand store. I removed all the old pictures and replaced them with my own. Although I have to admit I can't bring myself to throw away the others! They are someones family! Any ideas? .......any how... I used the books for some color, and I'm loving my little gallery of photos.

Especially this hunka, macho, cutie soldier man! Who are you handsome? I tried to get my sister to hang him on her fridge (because I'm married and I didn't know if it was inappropriate to have some unknown cute guy hanging on my own?) she wouldn't do it! I for sure can't let go of this one...... Can I? Let me know how you like the buffet! -B

Spring it on! Front door decorating......
Porch and front door decorating-

An old purse labeled "Post" adds a little Love for the mailman.

Two drawers from an old dresser, and four bed posts from an old bed, = one happy Mama. Why we love this? Because the drawers can hold more JUNK! JUNK = dirt (for flowers), pots, wreaths, and so on and so forth....... This concludes the story problem for today.

So many uses for this old bird cage holder! If it happens to disappear one night it wasn't me..........just sayin. We secured a plate holder to this platter and tied it from the bottom and the top with flashy ribbon. Vinyl adds some pink to this porch, a nice finishing touch. More porch ideas coming soon......

Spice!!
Oh how I needed a little spice in my bedroom! I have had this little vinyl plan FOREVER, but would never make the time to put it up. Toilet cleaning takes priority...... My sister gave me a push and I'm so glad! I think it turned out great, it brings your eye up and ties the whole room together. If you have something you have been wanting to get to but haven't because your toilets take priority too- get on it - you'll feel better!

These pics are my BORING ceiling before.....

This is after, a little spice- yum. Vinyl on the ceiling could be my new favorite thing! Vinyl is everywhere now, even target and similar stores have it. It takes two people to help eyeball it, unless you want to be crazy and measure?! Try some vinyl on the ceiling- Chikka Chikka....... B

How to
Grannylicious!
Oh my goodness we are SO in love with this new trend! Take some Vintage charm, throw in something unexpected, add a touch of bling and you have yourself some Granny Chic!
Found these adorable pumps at a second hand store and fell in LOVE with them! Just lay some black netting into the souls and plant some spring flowers and you have a Granny Chic showpiece for the front porch!
Doilies are SO in my friends! You can find all different shapes and sizes! We found this doily at an Antique Mall in Logan and used it to embellish a pillow. The flower is made from old sweaters we picked up and the brooch in the middle is actually an earring!
This fun table runner is made from vintage doilies pieced together and sewed STAPLED!!! I love my stapler.
Old Granny purses hung on the wall to hold keys, mail, just about everything!
Vintage silverware displayed on the front of a framed handkerchief and an old Fabulous trash can made into a lamp shade, these are a few of our favorite things!
My cute mom has been collecting vintage serving trays for years! With a little elbow grease (and a drill) we have turned this one into a Grannylicious Clock!
