Halloween is when all the fun holiday decorating starts! We LOVE it! My home is all decked out and ready for all that Halloween fun to begin! Studio 5 just filmed a fun segment on my old haunted home and we had a blast!

Fast Fun Fourth of July Projects!

Studio 5 Sneak Peak! Watch for Chikkaboom Design on Studio 5 today at 1 to see these fun projects or go HERE

Need some last minute ideas for your 4th of July?
We've got a few that are so fun, you might just want to keep them up ALL YEAR LONG!

'merica

I love the shape of our country its so dang cute! So we decided to turn that shape into art!

The one above was made with fabric on fabric...on fabric! Just find a a good shape, cut it out and spray glue the fabric right on top! Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy

or use spray glue and cover it in glitter, because glitter is awesome :)

Get Your Cross Stitch On

So to do this Cross Stitch Cutie just find a shape that you want to do...

Then with an exacto knife cut out the shapes

(aren't Taylors hands pretty?) Then trace your design on your fabric

Then start Cross Stitching!

TIP: Don't cut any excess fabric until your completely finished! The fabric tends to stretch a bit and it's a lot easier to tighten if you have that extra fabric to pull on!

Perfect Paper Pinwheels

We have had SO MUCH FUN with this paper pinwheels and they are super simple to make! The pinwheel above was made of old book pages torn out and folded.

TIP: Lay the folded papers FACE DOWN as you are making your pinwheel, once you have them in place then just lay a few pieces of tape (we used painters tape) on the top to keep everything in place!

These book page pinwheels can be used all year long to change it up a bit just add some POPS of COLOR like the triangles cut from a used coke pack!

To make this type of pinwheel you just take some paper and roll it into a cone shape, then hot glue your cones to a piece of cardboard or card stock. (I'm talking about the paper cones...get your mind out of the gutter!;) Scrapbook paper is fun to use, but to get the red stripes like the one above we used regular printing paper and painted the lines with red nail polish! Waste Not Want Not!

Patriotic Pillows

How Adorable are These!? These are DEFINITELY staying up all year long!!! For these pillows we sent the image we wanted to a screen printer which transfers the image onto fabric. Then we just cut the fabric into the sizes we wanted, these are about 18 inches, and then sewed some fun fabric to the back!

I Love This!!! Personal Libraries are a Retreat!!!

And aren't they?! Even if it is a small reading nook, dedicating any space to just sit back with a good book is definitely a retreat!

Spruce up that Bed Room with these FAST FUN Tricks!

These long winter months can give you the decorating blues and blahs! After the CRAZINESS of the holidays its time to treat yourself to a fresh new space! So where is a good place to start? ChiKKaBoom has your answer! Its time to redo that MASTER BEDROOM! Here are a few tips and how to’s to get you started!
1 - SAVE money by using a NEUTRAL BEDSPREAD:
  • Bedding can get VERY expensive, so try to stick with NEUTRAL COLORS (Grey-cream-brown-black).
Add punches of color and texture with PILLOWS, BLANKETS, or even a strip of fabric!
I sleep with a TON of pillows! So when I make my bed I’m always trying to find places to stuff them out of sight, so I came up with a solution! I call it The PILLOW RUNNER!
2 – SIDE TABLES:
  • PAINT is the quickest, cheapest way to change your side tables!
  • A BRIGHT VIBRANT accent color can change the entire feel of your room!
  3 – DRESSERS:
  • Of course painting your dresser can make a big difference too, but if you still like the existing color try adding a glaze to change it up a bit!
  • DON’T THROW OUT YOUR OLD HARDWARE!!! You can change this too! We just took our old handles and fastened them to a cardboard box, spray painted them and VOILA! It gives it a pumped up Shabby Chic look!
4 – ACCESSORIES:
  • From Modern to Classic styles, accessories like BOOKS and LAMPS show off your personal style!
Tissue paper gave new life to these LOVELY LAMPS!

OH MAMA!!!!

So as you probably ALL know, my mother is a GENIUS!!!! She always comes up with the best ideas!!! This is her latest!

As she was making some slip covers for her family room pillows she thought it might be cute to have some kind of image on the front. So What does she do? ... She Spray paints them! ( Mom I LOVE YOU!!!) All she did was take some vinyl that has been cut to whatever image you could want, she picked the vinyl so that it made a stencil, then she stuck her stencil onto the fabric and spray painted it! As I said GENIUS!!!!

After the paint dries you just peel off your sticker and you have a FREAKING FABULOUS pillow!

LOVE IT!!!!!
